Ron’s Selection Old Vine Shiraz

2010 Old Vine ShirazFrom time to time Ron has the opportunity to release?small quantities of?wine?from a single vineyard.

This premium Barossa Shiraz is produced from low yielding 45 year old vines. Maturation in old American oak for at least two years delivers a complex, flavoursome wine. All our reds are bottled unfiltered to capture the essence of the variety.

The wine?exhibits intense brooding berries, dark plum and pepper flavours. Excellent fruit length with a richly textured palate in complete harmony with the oak.

An ever popular wine in our cellar door range, it?has been released in vintage 2005, 2006, ?2010, 2011 and 2012.

Whenever these wines appear they quickly sell out, our dedicated mail order customers can’t get enough!

The 2012 vintage will be available from December 2017. Limited stock of 250 dozen.

The Whole Shebang Red Blend

This red blend brings “The Whole Shebang” to the table from the Liebich vineyard.?The first release was so popular that Ron had no choice but to get back to the blending bench.

Ron has spent many hours perfecting this blend of younger and older wines from five varieties all grown on the Liebich property including Merlot, Tempranillo and Pinot Noir. All blending wines were basket-pressed and unfiltered to retain concentrated flavours.

A sensational value non-vintage red blend that won’t last long in anyone’s cellar.

 

Taste Notes: The nose is full of dark berries with well balanced spicy oak from older blend components. The palate is elegantly smooth and easy drinking with some refreshing sour cherry flavours.

Recipe: Baked Pears in Spiced Wine

A quick an easy dessert to?showcase any seasonal fruit such as pears, apple or figs. Roasting the fruit in a sweet spiced syrup makes it melt in the mouth.pear red wine 2 S

Degree of difficulty: easy

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 30 minutes

 

Ingredients:

4-6 pears depending on size

2/3 cup?Barossa red wine

2/3 cup Ruby Grenache or Tawny Port

3 tablespoons castor sugar

1 pinch cinnamon

? lemon or lime

? orange

? vanilla bean or ? teaspoon essence

Method:

Step 1

Place fruit in a shallow baking dish. Add red wine and port then sprinkle over sugar and spice.

Step 2

Cut citrus fruit into quarters, slit open vanilla pod and scrape out the seeds. Place citrus and vanilla?seeds around the pears.

Step 3

Bake in the oven for 30 minutes at 200?C.

Step 4

Serve the pears with some of the syrup and a creamy topping (yoghurt or mascarpone)….and an extra?glass of Tawny.

Pop Up Wine Bar in Melbourne

We want to thank those who came out to dine with us at Bramble & Vine in North Carlton. It was a relaxed evening with 30 guests enjoying sophisticated food and a diverse range of wines. Our hostess Leila was a genuine professional who made sure everyone felt welcome and their glass was always full. The evening kicked off with a tasting of all our current wines and the launch of The Darkie Shiraz 2006 (vintage number 12 of this flagship wine!). During dinner we surprised guests by serving the 2002 Lofty and Darkie which are holding up extremely well, especially under screw cap. Everyone had a great night!
