Come and see us this Autumn for Easter, Gather Round & Mother’s Day 2026
Autumn is our favourite time of year in the Barossa. Vintage is underway, the vines are turning golden, and the valley has that particular energy that only comes when the grapes are coming in. It’s a special time to visit. This year, we’ve got a few very good reasons to make the trip. We’re hosting special guided tasting events across three big weekends this autumn, and we’d love to see you at the cellar door.
Over Easter 2026, the cellar door will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday (please note we are closed Good Friday), and on Saturday and Sunday afternoon we’re running two special tasting experiences.
Gather Round brings the entire AFL world to South Australia. If you’re making a weekend of it, the Barossa is just 45 minutes from Adelaide and absolutely worth the detour. Barossa Park is a short 10 minute drive to Lyndoch from Liebichwein cellar door. We’ll be open all Gather Round weekend with both tasting experiences available. It’s a great way to bookend a big footy weekend with something a little quieter and a lot more delicious. Pull up a chair in the barrel hall, pour a glass of aged Barossa Shiraz, and let the good stuff sink in.
Choose from our Barossa Fortified & Sweet Snack Pairing – four of our finest fortifieds matched with chocolate, dried fruit and sweet popcorn or our Museum Red Wine & Snack Tasting, a guided flight of Barossa red wines aged between 10 and 20 years, paired with South Australian savoury snacks and crackers. All the fortified wines served are medal-winning from the Barossa Wine Show where Liebichwein has been named Best Fortified producer and Best Small Winery in recent years.
Both tasting experiences are available between 12-3pm on:
- Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday April 4 & 5
- Gather Round weekend April 10, 11 & 12
- Mother’s Day weekend May 9 & 10
Make sure to set aside 30 minutes during cellar door hours to fully relax and indulge in this sensory delight. Bookings are essential to secure your place at this self-guided tasting. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy a rare treat that perfectly captures the essence of Liebichwein’s heritage and passion for fortified wines. Both tasting experiences are $20 per person and both are genuinely wonderful ways to spend an afternoon in the Barossa. Bring someone you love and let us do the rest.

All the traditions of the long-running Barosa Vintage Festival were celebrated in April 2019.?We had a ball celebrating a century of Liebich family winemaking heritage in the Barossa Valley.?Winemaking is in Ron’s blood starting with his Grandfather, Benno Liebich, who established a family winery in Rowland Flat in 1919.
The cricket theme for the float was selected given that between Ron, his Uncle “Darkie” and grandfather Benno?they had notched up 100 vintages not out. We rolled out the turf on the back of a truck, set up stumps, donned the whites and rolled the arm over.

Ron Liebich has always supported the local wine show. Each year he diligently prepares samples and enters to get feedback from experienced judges from the wine industry.
The Barossa Wine Show judges were delighted in Liebichwein fortifieds. The 2017 competition awarded the following awards:
- Gold medal and overall Trophy for Best Museum White Fortified – Liebich Rare Semillon
- Silver medal – Liebichwein Classic Muscat

We hosted some very special tastings at cellar door during the 2017 Barossa Vintage Festival in April.
Over our 25 years of business, Ron has been carefully stashing away a few cases of each vintage ever produced of our premium red wine range. What a treat it was for us to taste our museum stocks to see how they were travelling. Overall, they are all aging well and the following vintages were selected based on their greater intensity and developed varietal characters.
Winemaker Ron Liebich’s Comments:
The Darkie Shiraz
Vintage 1999 – A relatively cooler year produced a wine with everything you’d expect for Barossa Shiraz. This wine still show great depth of colour, fruit intensity and complexity. Developed fruitcake spice, smoky oak and lovely pepper hints carry through to smooth long palate.
Vintage 2001 – A great quality season helped the wines make themselves in the vineyard. A concentrated and full bodied Shiraz with magnificent mouth feel. Tight tannins still grip a little, but are nicely balanced with subtle woody notes and cherry jam sweetness. Beautiful development under cork. 2001 is holding up better than the 2000?s. Still has a few years to live.
The Lofty Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage 1998 – A superb quality season. This Cab still shows great depth of colour, fruit intensity and complexity. Palate is spot on with acidity and drying tannins contributing to a tightly structured, persistent palate. Drinking well now.
Vintage 2001 – A concentrated Cabernet with super fine tannins and a lack of any aggressive oak characters. The trademark style of Liebichwein Cabernet still comes through with ripe blackberries and intense floral violet notes. Palate is still fresh and amazingly long. Still has a few years to live.

It was exciting to host another sell-out event as part of Barossa Gourmet Weekend. There really are a lot of sweet tooths around!
Over 40 Guests enjoyed an afternoon master class hosted by Ron Liebich and his daughter Briony who took them?behind the scenes of the world of fortified wine. Ron shared his tips for barrel ageing and how different grape varieties develop while Briony led the sensory experience of matching wines to indulgent desserts.
Matching Fortified with Desserts
Briony works as a Sensory Analyst and provided insights into basic taste interactions and why we love sweet flavours. The desserts were prepared by local chef Kate Harbison using as many local ingredients as possible. The most popular pairing was the Semillon and Cr?me Br?l?e.
