Old Vine Shiraz is produced from predominantly low yielding 48 year old vines growing in the southern end of Barossa Valley. Maturation for three years in old French barriques delivers a well-rounded flavoursome wine not overwhelmed by oaky characteristics. Traditional techniques of hand plunging, basket-pressing and bottling without fining or filtration, all help to preserve the essence of fruit.
Intensely ripe offering plum and pepper flavours, excellent fruit length, and richly textured palate in complete harmony with the oak.
Ron’s Selection label wines are from a series of small batch wines produced when winemaker, Ron Liebich, has the opportunity to make use of different grape varieties or fruit parcels from different vineyards. Old Vine Shiraz is an ever popular wine when it is part of the Liebichwein range.
Taste Notes: A full-bodied Shiraz full of dark plum, cherry and pepper flavours with a richly textured palate and excellent fruit length. Perfect for everyday drinking with a hearty meal or will reward long term cellaring 10-15 years.

2010 The Potter’s Merlot
SPECIAL LATE HARVEST
A wine dedicated to Samuel Hoffmann (1818-1900), a master potter, who settled on the Liebich property in 1848. Potter Hoffmann was one of the first German potters who emigrated to South Australia. He cleared an area between the current winery and the creek for farming and built a kiln nearby. Shards of his pottery can still be found in the yard today.
Vineyard: Rowland Flat, Barossa Valley
A premium single vineyard wine from 100% Merlot planted in 1989 by Ron Liebich. The 2010 vintage saw lower than average yield of 2 tonne/acre. Traditional techniques of hand plunging, basket-pressing with no fining or filtration were employed for fuller flavour.
Taste Notes: Typical full-bodied Merlot this label is renowned for. Seductive mulberry and pomegranate flavours integrate with subtle oak tannins. Silky smooth palate that is ready to drink now with lovely natural acidity to pair with rich dishes. A complex medium-bodied wine in our premium range that will reward cellaring for up to five years.
