A rare release blending standout vintages of flagship iconic old vine Shiraz.
This limited super blend offers deep, layered flavours of dark fruit and spice with silky tannins.
A bold, yet balanced tribute to the tradition of Barossa Shiraz.
Old Vine Shiraz is a rare and considered blend, drawn from exceptional harvests of Barossa grapes from a vineyard planted in 1969 by Ron Liebich's Uncle. Carefully selected barrels across multiple vintages capture the depth, richness and longevity that only mature vines can deliver. Crafted as a lasting tribute to over 50 years of winemaking by Ron Liebich, this is a wine that tells the full story of a lifetime in the vineyard.
Grown in the southern Barossa at Rowland Flat, these old vines yield small parcels of intensely flavoured fruit. Traditional winemaking techniques of open fermentation, gentle extraction and patient oak maturation in seasoned American and French oak hogsheads, allows the vineyard's natural character to come through in the glass.
Rich aromas of blackberry, dark plum and subtle spice are complemented by hints of vanilla and chocolate from careful oak maturation. The palate is richly textured with silky tannins and concentrated dark fruit, leading to a long, smooth finish with lingering notes of sweet spice and fine oak.
A beautiful match for slow-cooked meats, roasted lamb, braised beef or aged hard cheeses. Exceptional drinking now, and will continue to develop with careful cellaring.
Liebichwein represents three generations of Barossa winemaking heritage since 1919. The name Liebich comes from Barossa German meaning “I love” and we hope you love this wine as much as we do.
