Home Barrel Competition 2019
The full gamut of barrel-aged fortified wines was on show in this years tasting. Entries included super-syrupy rare tawny, rare sweet Tokay-like flavours and quite young fresh Tawny’s. All the wines gained approval and judges were really impressed with quality as not one failed to win at least a bronze. Special thanks to our expert judging panel Ron Liebich, Kate Harbison and Craig Butcher. There were so many high quality wines, that five gold medals were awarded to four different home barrel owners. Each prize winner received a bottle of Rare Museum Fortified they can use for blending and a bottle of museum release The Darkie Shiraz.
Recently we hosted a special tasting for the winners to collect their prizes. They had the opportunity to taste each other’s wines and Ron shared some exceptional aged wines.
If you are an entrant who couldn’t attend, or live further afield, you are most welcome to arrange a time for Ron to bring out the wines for you next time you are able to visit cellar door.
A huge thank you to all our entrants and congratulations to the winners!
