New Red Blend: Grenache Mataro Shiraz 2012 Released

This is our first ever GMS blend of classic Barossa varietals all grown on the Liebich property.

Usually all our Grenache fruit goes into making fortified wine to keep our barrels topped up with fresh wine for our bulk blends. 2012 was such a great season in the Barossa we thought it was time to introduce an easy drinking lighter bodied wine into the range, just in time for warmer weather. All the Grenache fruit is grown on bush vines which also makes for a flavoursome base wine.

Each fruit parcel was hand plunged and basket-pressed, then spent 15 months in seasoned American and French oak, before being bottled without fining or filtration to help encapsulate the fruit essences. Grenache dominates the blend with lifted red berries and Mataro adds a spicy savoury backbone. The Shiraz component adds depth and suppleness to the wine.

A seductive medium-bodied wine from the wonderful 2012 vintage. Ready to be enjoyed for the Summer picnic season.

Blend: Grenache 70%, Mataro 20%, Shiraz 10%
